Two-month test at Baar railway station
06.02.2025 | The ticket machines of Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe AG (ZVB) are reaching the end of their service life. The ZVB is conducting a two-month test at Baar station to find out whether a comprehensive replacement is still necessary.
The ZVB ticket machines are over 10 years old. They have installed components that will no longer function technically from 2026. At the same time, ticket purchases at ticket machines are in sharp decline, while online channels have been growing significantly for years. With a two-month test, the ZVB wants to find out whether an investment in the renewal of the ticket machines is still appropriate.
Ticket machines will be temporarily dismantled
To this end, the two ticket machines operated by Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe at Baar station will be temporarily dismantled from 10 February to 4 April 2025. During the test phase, the acceptance and flexibility of passengers to switch to other sales channels will be tested. In addition to the digital channels, customers will still be able to purchase tickets on the bus and at the travel centre. If necessary, passengers will be supported by customer advisors or ZVB staff. After the two-month test phase, the ZVB will analyse its experiences and decide on how to proceed.
