Target for 2035: CO₂-neutral regular services
Our experience with our electric buses in regular service has been positive so far. The ZVB is gradually rolling out e-mobility with the aim of operating its regular services in a carbon-neutral manner by 2035.
The ZVB has outlined a roadmap to the e-future. The aim is to achieveCO2-neutral line operation by 2035, a goal that is being pursued in stages that are periodically reviewed and adjusted as necessary. Lines will be reorganised and e-buses will be used more frequently to achieve this.
Thanks to this step-by-step approach, the ZVB is constantly learning and benefiting from technological developments. We are also actively monitoring other drive technologies.
Operational and financial feasibility is a prerequisite for achieving the 2035 target. It is crucial that financial viability is ensured and that the necessary funds are made available forCO2-free public transport operations in Zug. The knowledge gained from operating the e-buses is very valuable and will be incorporated into further planning on an ongoing basis. The ZVB will move into a new main base in 2031 that is suitably equipped for the new technologies.
The first electric school bus has been in service in Neuheim since August 2026.
