Temporary accommodation on the Gaswerk site
To ensure that the ZVB and Zug Rescue Service continue to operate seamlessly during the construction phase, two temporary facilities were set up on the nearby Gaswerk site.
The temporary facilities on the gasworks site comprise two buildings, which house the ZVB’s fleet of around 80 buses as well as the Zug emergency services. Both buildings were constructed by Strüby Unternehmungen using Swiss timber. The hall for the ZVB buses measures 82 by 20.5 metres and is spanned by timber trusses, which are used on the outside to support the electric bus charging canopies. This timber structure is reinforced by a concrete section of the building, which houses the charging infrastructure for the electric buses. The building for the ambulance service is a three-storey structure built using timber elements, covering an area of 88 by 12.5 metres.
Construction of the two temporary buildings took around one year, with work commencing on 1 April 2025. The temporary buildings were occupied and put into operation in the summer of 2026.
