New ZVB bus depot in Rotkreuz
12 March 2026 | In order to efficiently accommodate future passenger numbers in the Ennetsee region, additional bus parking capacity is required. Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe AG (ZVB) is therefore planning to build a new bus depot in Rotkreuz. The planning application has now been submitted.
Public transport has also grown in the Ennetsee area in recent years. As existing depot capacity is fully utilised, ZVB is planning to build a modern bus depot on its own site at Riedstrasse 22 in Rotkreuz. The bus depot will accommodate around 16 vehicles and will include staff rooms and changing rooms for the driving crew, as well as a bus wash facility. It is a bus depot for parking only, without a workshop.
The new bus depot is situated in the industrial and services zone, in the immediate vicinity of the A14 motorway. In line with the canton of Zug’s policy of prudent use of building land, modern office and commercial spaces, each measuring 1,200m², will be developed on the four upper floors above the depot. These will be available for third-party use and are expected to be available for rent from 2028.
Planning for this construction project began in 2024 with a publicly tendered selection process for the planning team. The architectural firm Mozzatti Schlumpf AG from Baar, together with the transport planning firm Viaplan AG from Sursee, have since been commissioned to plan this construction project. With the support of other specialist planners, an important milestone has now been reached: the planning application has been submitted. Construction is expected to begin in autumn 2026. The building works will take around two years and should be completed by autumn 2028.
