ZVB position on the mobility concept for the Canton of Zug

The ZVB supports the canton's endeavours to take a holistic approach to the issue of mobility, which is why the central question is how transport in its multifaceted form can be handled in a socially acceptable, economical and ecological manner within the existing area.

The ZVB is convinced that only a good mix of different forms of transport can be successful - both today and tomorrow. Each form of transport makes its own contribution, and it is important that they co-exist and work together. The future of mobility is multimodal, and in order to cope with growth, we need to focus on more space- and energy-efficient forms of mobility. Public transport is the space- and energy-efficient form of mobility par excellence and therefore an important part of a good solution. However, it must be reliable, fast and punctual if people are to use it. This requires certain framework conditions.

  • Promote multimodal mobility (networking different forms of transport).
  • Modernise mobility hubs (Baar, Cham, Rotkreuz, Zug).
  • Digitalisation of cantonal and municipal infrastructure (e.g. traffic lights)
  • Expand intelligent traffic management (e.g. situational traffic control thanks to the monitoring of traffic lights and their access points).
  • Consider future forms of transport (e.g. on-demand).
  • Actively monitor the development of mobility and promote new forms.

  • Spatially separate modes of transport with different speeds (public transport/car versus bicycles).
  • Allow sufficient space for all road users (e.g. with separate cycle lanes).
  • This increases safety and traffic flow.
  • Mixed traffic, from which everyone suffers, should be avoided.

  • Bus prioritisation at traffic lights.
  • Structural bus lanes (e.g. Chamerstrasse).
  • Operational bus lane (e.g. electronic bus lane on Artherstrasse).

  • Drive technology with renewable energy (electromobility)
  • Secured long-term financing for these forms of propulsion.
