Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe

New ZVB main base

The ZVB wants to be the leading mobility provider in the Zug area not only today, but also tomorrow and beyond. That is why we are investing in a modern infrastructure.

There are good reasons in favour of a new building. Some of our current buildings are over 60 years old and need to be modernised. We also need space, as we transport 50 per cent more passengers than we did 25 years ago - and the trend is rising. The new workshop will allow us to efficiently maintain alternative technologies and flexibly accommodate new developments.

In spring 2019, the Cantonal Council gave the green light. The current project is convincing because it is balanced, well thought out and utilises synergies with other partners. We are also densifying in the right place: in future, buses will be parked underground. This will free up attractive space in the centre of Zug. Around 100 flats will be built, 40% of which will be affordable. The neighbourhood will experience an overall urban development upgrade.

The Zug City Council unanimously approved the development plan on 3 October 2023. The electorate finally approved the development plan at the ballot box on 3 March 2024 with an overwhelming YES vote of 81.3 %. The ZVB is expected to move into the new building in 2031.

Modern and future-proof

The current ZVB buildings are getting on in years and adjustments are urgently needed. With the new building, we are investing in a modern infrastructure and making the future of public transport possible.
