Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe

Development of the An der Aa site

Modern bases are being built on the An der Aa site, not only for public transport, but also for the Zug rescue service. Around 100 flats, a neighbourhood square, new paths and a neighbourhood square are also being built.

The current premises of Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe (ZVB) on the An der Aa site are being consolidated and opened up. In future, buses will be parked underground at the new ZVB main base. This will free up a lot of space in a central location in Zug. Around 100 flats will be built, 40% of which will be affordable. A building for the rescue service (RDZ) and the cantonal administration will be built in the centre of the site. This new building will enable the rescue service to continue to fulfil its basic mission efficiently in the future as its needs grow. The proximity of the rescue service and the ZVB has proven its worth. The rescue vehicles are serviced and maintained at the ZVB. These synergies will be continued. In addition, modern office workplaces for around 250 employees will be created in the new building for the cantonal administration.

Opening up and upgrading the neighbourhood

The current company premises will be opened up and connected to the surrounding cycle paths and footpaths. A new footpath will enable barrier-free crossing of the site and complete the network of footpaths between Stierenmarkt and Zug railway station. The current path on the Schleifendamm will in future run as a footpath and cycle path on the An der Aa side of the site. It will be 4 metres wide and connect the Kaufmännische Berufsschule (KBZ) with the Schutzengel S-Bahn stop. Along the SBB railway tracks and along General-Guisan-Strasse, the existing footpaths and cycle paths will be upgraded and lined with trees. The old loop railway embankment will be secured as an ecologically biodiverse oasis, the Siehbach stream will be opened up and the roofs will be greened.
